Guard crushed to death at Simbithi main gate
Umhlali Saps will investigate the incident leading up to the death of the guard.
A security guard at Simbithi died this afternoon when a gate fell on top of him, crushing him.
According to Simbithi Eco Estate an exit gate at the estate’s main entrance fell onto a security officer and a technical staff member, both employed by Fidelity Security.
The security guard died at the scene.
The technical staff member was taken by paramedics for medical observation.
Umhlali Saps will investigate the incident leading up to the death of the guard.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and colleagues the deceased,” Simbithi Eco Estate said in a Home Owners Association statement.
The main gate entry and exit lanes will remain closed for a time and either the South or Ballito Gate are available for use to enter the estate.
