Honda BRV 1.5 Comfort CV equals bold runabout vehicle

It feels like a small car when driving, appears middle-sized on the outside, but large on the inside.

Given the opportunity to review the Honda BRV 1.5 Comfort CVT recently, we were not disappointed.

The BRV has carved a niche for itself in the crossover/MPV market and is a well-appointed vehicle with most, if not all, of the modern-day tech that one would expect from such a vehicle.

It also has a funky, modern, off-roadie look which is popular at the moment.

The middle-range spec BRV Comfort is the vehicle on which Honda is currently running a substantial special.

The BRV can seat 7 (6 in real comfort, 7 if required).

Both rows of rear seats can fold forward, and the middle row is adjustable both in terms of tilt and fore and aft, which is really convenient for longer trips.

The seating arrangement makes the vehicle ideal for those with larger family requirements – and don’t worry, the boot area is still large enough to fit in a reasonable number of shopping bags with all of the seats in the down position.

Should you be stocking up for the next lockdown, folding the rear set of seats forward exposes a cavernous 440 litres of space compared to the usual 192 litres with just the seats down.

Bearing in mind that the average shopping trolley (the big ones) have a volume of around 200 litres, it’s the perfect mom wagon with ample space for the whole family and half the shop.

A huge bonus for the passenger compartment is a sectional overhead aircon that provides substantial air flow and cooling in the rear, which is often lacking in 6/7 seaters.

The peanut gallery in the back can ride in cool comfort while criticizing your driving!

The BRV is well specced with reverse sensors, a really classy instrument cluster, a comfortable, higher seating position with a lot of adjustment options (good for those with back trouble), easy to use Bluetooth, great interior quality and rugged exterior finishes and looks.

The ground clearance of 210mm is substantial and in line with bigger vehicles and perfectly suits our North Coast roads, where tar and gravel meet in craterous holes when we like to go down gravel roads on the odd occasion when chasing the next adventure.

The vehicle’s elevated ride and seating height make the overall drive feel safer and this, combined with the great visibility, compartment adjustability and functionality, make the BRV an easy car to live with.

From a driver’s perspective, the BRV CVT’s nifty, modern tech automatic gearbox is really easy to use, and very smooth.

The CVT also comes with paddle shift which enables you to encourage the car to shift in normal drive mode, and in sport mode, giving you full control over the gear selection.

The 1.5 litre I-VTEC is an engine that revs freely and is quite economical when coupled to the CVT transmission.

The BRV’s flexibility makes it a suitable choice for families and organisations looking for a people mover that can offer safety, comfort and flexibility, both on the inside and the outside.

The BRV represents great value and coming from the Honda stable, is a good option for anyone looking for an elegant all-rounder.
