Groutville author writes to heal and inspire
Gumede has so far published 11 books and his latest work, Dripping Drops, was recently released at the Luthuli Museum in Groutville.
Talking about turning lemons into lemonade, Thulani Yeyeye Gumede wrote a book in an attempt to overcome the grief of his firstborn’s untimely death.
Little did he know it would launch his career as an author.
“My son was only 6 months when he died in his sleep. That motivated me to do some soul searching by writing about my emotions as I didn’t know how to handle the loss and pain.
“As it turned out, the book has helped heal many men and couples. All my subsequent books have been written with one thing in mind, to help heal and inspire.”
The 38-year old Charlottedale resident said he writes about daily challenges affecting society.
His books are published by his company, Nqaba Publishers, which he opened in 2016.
They have become so popular that he is regularly interviewed on radio and TV.
“I also post interviews on my YouTube channel, Yeyeye Show, where we talk about topics that affect ordinary people,” said Gumede.
The father of two boys holds a master’s degree in commerce from UKZN.
The names of the books he has written are: Nqaba Grief & Hope, Lovers & Mirrors, Love Rage (the good fight), Nqaba Grief & Hope 2nd edition, Fathering Shadows, Letters to my Seed, Fathering in the Dawn, Impumelelo Kamadakeni, Some Women Don’t Live on High Heels, Izinyembezi Zephara, The Visitors’ Wall and most recently Dripping Drops.
