St Luke’s Home of Healing celebrates staff’s sterling work

On Monday, staff were recognised for their dedicated service, some having worked at the care facility for more than 30 years.

St Luke’s Home of Healing has provided a home for the mentally and physically handicapped amid the Kearsney cane fields since 1945.

Manager Mabel D’Alton said it was with this and Worker’s Day in mind, that St Luke’s management chose to reward staff by handing out long-service certificates and treating them to lunch.

“We are so thankful for our passionate staff who go beyond the call of duty to do what they can in providing quality care to those in need,” she said.

The home is a registered non-profit organisation which relies on donations to provide its valuable services.

While a moderate fee is charged depending on the extent of nursing attention patients require, these do not cover the costs of upkeep.
