Case of Ballito mother accused of drowning her daughter postponed again

The court ordered that the accused be moved from Umhlali police station to Westville Prison.

The case of a Ballito mother accused of killing her four-year-old daughter by drowning her in a bucket of water on April 26, was postponed to June 9.

The 45-year-old woman was expected to plead during her third appearance in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court today, but prosecutor Paul Nel said the case is being postponed so that investigations and plea negotiations could be concluded.

Magistrate Rose Sapeng ordered that the accused be moved from the Umhlali police cells to Westville prison.

While waiting for her name to be called, the woman sat next to her lawyer in the front row wearing a pair of jeans, a T-shirt with the wording “Love my planet” and a light green jacket, carrying a shopping bag presumably containing her belongings.
