Elaleni kids take on biology in school holidays

With the help of landscape architect, Lucas Uys, the children enjoyed a treasure hunt where they identified local flora and fauna.

Elaleni recently hosted a school holiday gardening activity for children on the estate.

Children, and many parents, thoroughly enjoyed the interactive experience during a fun walk, learning about the flora and fauna.

Landscape architect Lucas Uys educates children about the characteristics of a plant.

Award-winning landscape architect Lucas Uys educated the children on the various plants they encountered along the walk.

To end off the afternoon, Uys taught the children on the many benefits of growing ‘Spekboom’, and demonstrated how to take a cutting for replanting.

All the children took home a slip of ‘Spekboom’ to grow at their own homes. The activity also included a treasure hunt during which the children had to tick off the plants they saw and learnt about.
