Cleaning crew tackle Umhlali police station

Umhlali Saps spokesperson, captain Vinny Pillay, said the initiative was much appreciated.

The Umhlali police station was given a much-needed clean-up last week.

Dolphin Coast Waste Management, Ballito Sweepers and the Work Station joined forces to tidy up the station’s yard.

Tina Chamane of the Ballito Sweepers said the police station was a key community asset.

The team worked through the heat to clean up the Umhlali police station grounds last week.

“We saw the need for our station to be cleaned up because an eyesore at our station is an eyesore to our community,” she said.

The station does have cleaners, however, there are no groundsmen to keep the yard clean.

Umhlali Saps spokesperson, captain Vinny Pillay, said the initiative was appreciated.

Dolphin Coast Waste Management employee Philani Khoza hard at work during the clean-up initiative.

“Anyone who is willing to help the station is more than welcome and we sincerely appreciate the support we have been getting from local businesses and the community at large over the years,” said Pillay.
