Suzuki’s Fronx set for launch

The Fronx was unveiled at the Auto Expo in India recently and forms part of the manufacturer's new range using futuristic design language.

Suzuki is set to launch the Fronx, a new SUV crossover featuring a silhouette of its Baleno hatch, with styling taken from the Grand Vitara SUV.

And it looks great.

While the launch date is yet to be confirmed, suspicions are that it will hit South African shores later this year at a price of around R400 000.

Coming in with five variants, the Fronx will be available in either Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta or Alpha models, with engine options ranging between 1.0 – 1.2 litres.

These include a 1.0-litre boosterjet turbo-charged petrol engine with 100bhp (brake horsepower) and 143Nm of torque.

The 1.2-litre is a naturally aspirated petrol engine with 90bhp of power and torque of 113Nm.

Options are available in a 5-speed manual transmission (MT) and an optional 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), while the 1.2-litre can be had with either a 5Mt or optional 6-speed torque converted automated transmission (AT).

The Fronx was unveiled at the Auto Expo in India this month and forms part of the manufacturer’s new range using futuristic design language.

Taking a look at the design, the front end is quite imposing and its large wheels promise a lot, while the interior is large and spacious, offering 40-plus connected vehicle functions via a touchscreen.

The Fronx is one of three new Suzuki SUVs expected in the country this year.

Range and pricing are still to be announced, however the Fronx is expected to slot in below the new Suzuki Grand Vitara.
