Renault’s RS 300 Trophy packs punch

Performance isn't the only thing this car boasts, with added styling presenting another step into the world of RS with Alcantara seats finished in red stitching, and the dash with a seven-inch portrait style R-Link touch infotainment system.

While it may only be available in white, orange or yellow, the new Renault Megane RS 300 Trophy will make driving more exhilarating with its greater performance and sportier design.

This is not a car you would pick for its bold colour, but rather for its impressive race-ready performance on the road.

Sporting a price tag many will shy away from, the RS 300 Trophy’s 1.8-litre 221kW/420Nm engine rockets from 0-100km/h in as little as a claimed 5.7 seconds, capable of reaching top speeds up to 255km/h.

Tuned with some Formula 1 level trickery, the front-wheel drive hatch is the talking point of those who can afford the R899 900 price tag.

Ensuring it has the power to bring you to a stop safely, the RS 300 Trophy is fitted with Brembo calipers, while also sporting a race-ready suspension and limited slip differential, further allowing for near perfect cornering and traction.

Four-control technology adds to incisive steering and improved roadholding for precision driving.

At lower speeds the car’s rear wheels shift in the opposite direction to the front wheels for cornering and such for improved agility, aligning again at speeds exceeding 100km/h.

Ensuring each tyre remains firmly glued to the road is a suspension with hydraulic compression stops, borrowed from the demanding world of rallying.

The infotainment system works on both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with interior updates also bringing to life a new steering wheel to complement the aluminium finish for the gear lever and handbrake.

Fuel consumption on the RS 300 Trophy matches that of its performance at 8.1-litres per 100km.

The car comes standard with a 5-year/90 000km service plan, plus a 5-year/150 000km mechanical warranty and a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty.
