Orphan Fund celebrates 20th anniversary
Orphan Fund fundraising coordinator, Charmaine Premlal, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the donors, sponsors and patrons who had been supporting the organisation since 2003.
Children of Siyakhula Crèche at Shaka’s Head experienced some VIP treatment as special guests at The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund’s 20th anniversary celebrations last Wednesday.
Excitement filled the air as they made their way to Animal Flag Farm, eager to see and feed the many different animals.
The Virtual Agent’s Umhlanga team took on the role of hosts, ensuring the 30 children were treated to delicious meals, face painting and a host of super cool gifts.
Brennell Desserts sweetened the day with mouthwatering Death by Chocolate cake.
Mad Hatters party shop sprinkled the cake toppings to complete the delightful treat, while local resident Annabelle de Maroussem contributed plates, cups and serviettes.
Aquelle and Coee kindly offered the kids a choice between refreshing water or a cold drink..
Crèche founder Snenhlanhla Mgoqi couldn’t find enough words to express her gratitude to the Orphan Fund for the wonderful feast.
“We felt truly special, thank you for our special lunch and the lovely presents. God bless you all. The Siyakhula children will cherish this day forever,” she said.
The Orphan Fund has so far raised and distributed more than R6-million to a host of beneficiaries in the iLembe district over the past two decades, making a significant impact on the lives of many underprivileged people.
One of the long-time beneficiaries, Zamo Mgadi of the Nkobongo Resource Centre, said the Orphan Fund’s ongoing support enables the centre to implement essential child and family support programmes, as well as providing nutritious meals to children

“And it was especially great having founders Rose and Bruce Stephenson at our anniversary celebrations to witness the happiness they have brought to so many lives,” said Premlal.
