Spotted at the Salt Rock Farmers Market
Barring torrential rain, the market is hosted every Thursday from 7-12am.
The Salt Rock Farmers Market is a blissfully serene way to spend a Thursday morning.
Set on the lawns of the Slow Roads Collective on Claremont Farm in Sheffield, the market hosts around 20 stallholders with a variety of goods.
You can buy anything from fresh produce to fresh plant-life, with a host of interesting food and trinket stalls to explore.
The market has been going since the end of March and is run by Andrea Kruger, who previously ran the now-closed Sugar Market at Salt Rock Country Club.
“We’ve had really good support so far, mostly from retirees and local mums,” said Kruger.
“We knew the Ballito Farmers Market was coming on the weekends and didn’t try to compete, rather promoting a different midweek offering.”
The template Kruger followed was that of the weekly Umhlanga Farmer’s Market, and many of those long-serving stallholders can be found in Sheffield too.
“We have kept everything simple and have so far had good feedback from the community.”
A premium is put on fresh, local ingredients and products, supporting the wider North Coast by extension.
Barring torrential rain, the market is hosted every Thursday from 7-12am.
If you would like to run a stall, you can contact Kruger at 079 684 2461 or via the Salt Rock Farmers Market social pages.
