Revamped Ballito Junction welcomes Starbucks and Krispy Kreme among new stores
The mall also embarked on an energy hybrid microgrid system, including solar and a generator farm, ensuring the lights are always on.
The opening of Ballito Junction Regional Mall’s new extensions last week was perfectly timed for a festive season boost at the retail hub.
At the ribbon-cutting last Thursday, Flanagan & Gerard managing director Paul Gerard said the extension and refurbishment had in part been prompted by waterproofing issues but had the added benefit of enhancing the mall’s offering. Flanagan & Gerard developed the project.
“We felt the need to create a space deserving of the quality of retailer that we have in Michael Lafferty from Pick n Pay. To assist Michael, we have expanded his Liquor shop, allowing him to stock the range necessary to capture the Ballito local and holiday market.

“We have added two more lifts to allow more customers to shop at Pick n Pay and Dischem from the comfort of covered basement parking bays,” said Gerard.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony coincided with the official opening of new stores in the cornerstone section, including Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Booba Beautea, Tip Top Bakery, One Stop Travel & Tours, On the Move, and the much-loved Catia’s, previously known as Picadeli.
Ballito Junction opened to the public in March 2017 with Checkers, Woolworths, mass fashion retailers, and the first cinema in Ballito.

Notable additions to the retail line-up over the years include Kingsley Heath, Little Me, Forever New, Whitehouse, Carol Boyes, Checkers Outdoor, Sketchers, Mr Price Kids, and more.
The mall also embarked on an energy hybrid microgrid system, including solar and a generator farm, ensuring that the lights are always on.
Enterprise iLembe CEO, Linda Ncube, said since the Junction opened its doors it had become a landmark, attracting holidaymakers and shoppers.
“It underscores the attractiveness of our area and created lots of jobs. So, we are excited about the extension,” said Ncube.

iLembe Chamber CEO Cobus Oelofse said that by creating a vibrant and modern destination at the two main retail centres, the holiday spend could be kept local.
“The convenience of our region’s diverse retail, hospitality, and entertainment offering, in general, has boosted local businesses and our reputation as a destination.”
