Natasha chases Mrs South Africa crown
Natasha Perold's resilience and determination propelled her to the semi-finals of the prestigeous pageant.
The introduction of Mrs South Africa has changed the beauty standards associated with pageantry and allowed Ballito’s Natasha Perold to stride to the semi-finals.
The 49-year-old mother, wife and career woman is no stranger to the modelling scene.
Growing up, she possessed a striking beauty that set her apart from her peers, with her 1.76m height being her most noticeable feature.
”I entered many beauty pageants at school and did some modelling courses before I turned 16.
I then entered the Miss Addington beauty contest during my time in nursing school,” she said.
What promised to be a lucrative modelling career was cut short when she had her first child.
During that time, she faced emotional abuse from her partner that took away her self-esteem and the hopes of continuing with her career.
”I stopped pursuing my dream after my first son was born. I felt that part of my life was over and my partner at the time was extremely possessive and jealous, breaking down every spark of hope to continue that dream,” she said.

According to the Ballito stunner, the Mrs South Africa pageant reignited this spark within her.
Her life experiences have made her ”polished with purpose”. She has outlived her past and became stronger in the face of adversity.
“If I win I hope to encourage women to love themselves, recognise their worth, and thrive each day, regardless of their past.”
The now retired professional nurse with a passion for education, health and wellness has participated in Cansa and FamPro initiatives to support people living with cancer and those who have experienced any form of abuse.
“Speaking up gives you freedom. It can change your mindset from victim to victorious.”
She is a survivor and hopes to help victims deal with abuse.
When she’s not strutting confidently down the catwalk, Perold works in medical sales and marketing.
