Eleven injured in four-car N2 pileup

Six people were seriously injured and had to be transported to hospital.

Six people were seriously injured following a four-car pileup on the N2 near the Salt Rock offramp this morning.

Five escaped with minor to moderate injuries.

The accident happened on the northbound lane at around 7am, with four vehicles – a hatchback, an SUV, a taxi and a bakkie – involved.

The taxi appears to have been sandwiched from both sides.

The cause is currently unclear and will be subject to further investigation.

The scene has since been cleared and traffic is moving freely.
