Agri experts share future vision at Ballito summit

Speakers from 13 countries deliberate on farming for the future.

Ballito became the centre of the agricultural world for a few days last week.

Hundreds of farmers, experts and some of the world’s leading agricultural entrepreneurs attended the fifth annual Urban Agri Summit at The Capital Zimbali from Wednesday to Friday.

Hosted by Enterprise iLembe, it was the first time that the summit had reached North Coast shores after previously calling Durban home.

Deputy Labour Minister Jomo Sibiya addresses the summit.

The event attracted speakers from 13 countries who shared their vision for our mutual agricultural future.

Targeted sessions covering everything from farm finance to how AI will impact agriculture were held on Wednesday and Thursday, with local farm visits on Friday.

It was a perfect showcase for iLembe’s farming strengths, as highlighted by iLembe District Municipality mayor, Thobani Shandu, in the closing address on day one.

The summit attracted agricultural experts from across the globe.
