Ballito marchers take a stand against gender-based violence
Human trafficking scourge also placed in spotlight.
Ballito residents took to the streets on Saturday morning to support the Rise Up Movement’s annual walk to raise awareness about human trafficking and gender-based violence.

The event coincided with Interpol’s Operation Liberterra, which focuses on combating human trafficking.

According to Rise Up Movement founder Josha Daniel, reports of sexual exploitation, rape, assault and grooming have increased sharply over the past two months.

“While awareness campaigns are vital, the public must also take ownership and be vigilant in reporting suspicious activities. Prevention is always better than cure,” said Daniel.
