Miss Ballito 2024: Yuvika Govender impresses the judges with community impact project
Since its founding 13 years ago, the Miss Ballito pageant has raised more than R865 000 for local charities.
Yuvika Govender (23) was crowned Miss Ballito 2024 in a glittering ceremony at Collisheen Estate last Thursday.
In addition to winning the main title, Govender also received the Miss Heart 4 and Miss Influencer awards, recognising her impactful community projects.

“I honestly didn’t expect this because all the finalists did an outstanding job. It must have been a very tough choice for the judges,” said Govender.
First and second princesses, Khethiwe Dhlamini (24) and Alexia Minnie (19), will support Govender throughout her reign, stepping in when she’s unavailable.
The Miss Ballito pageant seeks to honour not only beauty but also young women who are making meaningful changes within their communities.

During the competition, finalists modelled swimsuits, evening wear and casual outfits before responding to individual interview questions. They also performed a choreographed dance, adding a dynamic flair to the evening.
Reflecting on her journey, Govender said, “I entered this competition to try something new and was inspired by past contestants, especially for their charity work.”
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and an Honours in Supply Chain Management. Govender noted that organising a charity clothing drive with multiple drop-off locations around Ballito was the most rewarding aspect of the experience.

“Seeing the impact it had on so many children really warmed my heart,” she said.
Govender assembled and donated 25 clothing packs for underprivileged children and plans to expand the project with more drop-off points.
Guests at the pageant were also treated to performances by the Performing Arts Centre dance group, and singing by Amber Mare, Kelsey Sim and Emma Blake.

Since its founding 13 years ago, the Miss Ballito pageant has raised more than R865 000 for local charities, continuing its legacy of community support.
Miss Ballito co-ordinator Heidie Smith, on behalf of Miss Ballito and the Rotary Club of Zimbali, extended heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to all involved in this year’s pageant.
