Free security training opens new opportunities for North Coast residents
Nqo Security Academy in Shaka's Head gave five students bursaries.
Five North Coast residents are receiving free security training at the Nqo Security Academy in Shaka’s Head.
Once their training is complete, each participant will be awarded a Grade EDC security certificate, positioning them for entry into the job market.
Nqo Security Academy’s CEO, Richard David, said he was proud to support community efforts to tackle unemployment.
“This security bursary initiative targets less privileged, unemployed youth in our community, providing them with Security Grades EDC certification. We believe the skills provided will increase their employability and make our community safer,” he said.
Among the trainees is Samkelisiwe Buthelezi, a 24-year-old from Etete who completed her matric last year but couldn’t pursue further education owing to financial challenges.
“Words fail me to express my gratitude. This has sparked new hope and motivation as I now have a chance to rebuild my life,” said Buthelezi.
Magwaveni resident Wendy Busani (30), though not one of the official bursary recipients, expressed her gratitude for being allowed to study while saving to pay for the course.
“I work part-time as a domestic worker and I use my days off to study. Because of my financial situation, I was permitted to study and can collect my certificate once I can afford the fees, something I’m very grateful for,” said Busani.
