Corpse delivered to KwaDukuza bank over alleged insurance dispute

This is the third time a dead body has been left in a bank in the town since 2019.

An angry family dumped a corpse at Capitec KwaDukuza this morning, allegedly in protest over an unpaid insurance claim.

The branch on Chief Albert Luthuli Street was temporarily closed so that the body could be removed.

The dramatic measure taken by the family is understood to be linked to a proof of death required for the claim, but this has not been confirmed.

Capitec had not responded to questions regarding the incident at time of publication.

The incident this morning is the third time a body has been left in a bank in the town since 2019.

In July last year, a grieving family carried a coffin into the Capitec branch at KwaDukuza Mall in protest of a delayed insurance payout. The claim was later settled.

Six years earlier, in November 2019, a body was left in an Old Mutual branch in KwaDukuza over a similar dispute.
