Crawford goes East

Pupils put up a show for their Eastern evening.

On Friday, April 24, Crawford College North Coast’s Eastern Society presented its Eastern Evening, the eagerly anticipated entertainment extravaganza.

Fantasy merged with reality as the concept of Bollywood’s IIFA awards presentation (India’s version of the Oscars) set the stage for a variety of delightful performances of dance, music, comedy and drama.

Added to this, amidst the exotic décor was a magnificent multi-course meal of delicious traditional cuisine.

A supportive community spirit ensured that this event was sold-out on the night.

“We congratulate Demishka Valaitham and Prenushlin Naidoo, the Eastern Evening’s creative student leaders, for their organisation and inspiration, the dedicated committee and the committed performers, inspired by artistic director Iqraam Rahim,” said Bernadine Delhove, who is part of the marketing department at Crawford.

“This successful event is dedicated to that most famous of ‘Uncles’ Jakes Naidoo, whose passion for Indian Culture has made his vision a wonderfully successful reality.”
