Trinityhouse outdoor fun

Trinityhouse Palm Lakes High School pupils bond over chicken potjie, rock climbing and river rafting on their Spirit of Adventure tour.

On Monday, April 20, a group of 24 excited grade eight and nine pupils from Trinityhouse Palm Lakes High School, accompanied by teacher Desiree Gengan and principal Darren de Gouviea-Smith, headed off to Spirit of Adventure at Shongweni Dam and Game Reserve for their three day bonding tour.

On their first evening, the children were required to prepare and cook their own meal, and on the menu was a chicken potjie as delicious as it was traditional. This was prepared beneath the setting sun, which offered a spectacular view for all.

Tuesday saw the children rock climbing, abseiling down the dam wall and then racing rafts they built in small teams.

“The bonding tour was a huge success,” said De Gouviea-Smith. It allowed pupils to enhance their leadership skills, build teamwork and focus on their personal development, while having loads of fun in the process.
