Shining laces and smiling faces

Beaches Primary School in Ballito raised money with colourful laces and fun tekkies for those less fortunate.

A Tekkie-Tax inspired fundraising initiative was enthusiastically embraced by pupils and staff at the Beaches Primary School in Ballito with a drive running through grades R to 7 accumulating an impressive R2 000 for national welfare organisations in the province.

“Every child is a gift and every child has a gift,” said Daya Thaver, school coordinator of the initiative.

The incentive sought to educate children about the importance of giving back to those in need, with the money to be distributed between five deserving causes including animals, basic family care, children, disability and education.

“A special thanks has to go to Daya Thaver for her relentless hard work in making this possible,” said Robin Knapp, headmistress of the school.
