The Crawford College North Coast’s matric art exhibition was officially opened on Tuesday, August 4 in the college hall by school principal André Loots.
“I am amazed at the depth of creativity, imagination and talent of our students,” said Loots, who commended the matric art pupils for their skill on canvas, while congratulating visual arts teacher Kerri Mills for her guidance and inspiration.
“Each new canvas is a fresh start – full of character and great creativity,” said Loots, who, after examining each piece said that the works of art were brought to life by the artists who created them.
Natasha Watson’s ‘Fresh Faces’ revealed much soulful inspiration about the nature of identity, while Miné van Aswegen’s ‘Wings’ took fanciful flights of fantasy.
In his piece ‘The Lost Soul of Human Existence’, Chad Payne revealed the beauty that surrounds us, if only we took the time to be mindful and appreciate it, instead of allowing human greed to corrupt it.
All pupils displayed great talent and promise by showcasing their refined skill-sets in the disciplines of painting and drawing.
