Fantastic fun at PLG

Schools hosts their first fundraiser since opening this year.

Pupils of PLG Ballito Academy enjoyed a day of family fun at the school on Saturday, September 5.

Bouncy castles, inflatable slides, rodeo, sumo wrestling and a braai commandeered by principal Ryan Doig were all on offer for those attending while music and dance kept everyone entertained.

The event was the school’s first official fundraiser since it opened its doors on January 26 and it is planned to be its biggest annual fundraising event for years to come, said school secretary Debbie Botha.

“We hope to raise about R15 000 to invest in our school’s ‘Mathletics’ and computer programmes,” said Botha, who was responsible for organising the event.

PLG principal Ryan Doig said he is excited to be involved in the growth of the school, which he believes has huge potential.

“Our mission at PLG is to offer private education to children in the area at a reduced fee,” said Doig, who added that the school also has fully functional boarding facilities, with 20 boarders enrolled at the school for next year.

The school started in January with 276 pupils, but now has more than 100 enrolments for next year’s intake in 2016 and will be teaching grades RR through to 12 for the first time since its opening.
