Harry Bodasing Primary School got fully behind the Arbour Day initiative, planting 11 new trees on their school grounds on Friday, September 4.
The trees, which were provided by the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA), were planted around the school as part of an initiative to educate pupils about the different species of trees native to our area and why they are so important to the ecosystem.
Five of the trees are fruit-bearing trees, which were allocated for the school’s nutrition programme, while the remaining six trees were made up of various local indigenous species.
Harry Bodasing Primary’s Arbour Day programme also featured a colouring competition for children in grades one to three, while a poster competition was held for pupils in grades four to seven.
