Beaches Primary champions culture

Parents enjoyed a fabulous showcase by the pupils.

The Beaches Primary put together a fabulous morning of fun, dance, song and market stalls to represent the beauty of the many cultures that make up our diverse country on Wednesday, September 23.

The beautiful gardens at the school were awash with colour as groups of children performed various routines including a Chinese dance, complete with a decorated dragon, Chinese costumes and colourful fans, performed against a backdrop of traditional Chinese music.

Other acts included African gumboot dancing, Indian dancing, hip-hop and gymnastics, which inspired the parents and other guests to get involved as the rhythmic music got them toe tapping and clapping along.

The stalls provided delicious tastings of food ranging from great curries, African delights, boerekos, and Chinese kebabs.

“A great morning was had by all, which was jubilantly expressed by proud and happy parents and guests who were enthralled by the spectacular celebration,” said school owner Carolyn Creighton, who took part in the school’s Heritage Day event.
