Urban Pops of culture

Crawford North Coast host a special music and dance program for Heritage Day.

The Crawford North Coast (CNC) community showcased their heritage with an evening of musical and dance performances on Tuesday night, September 22 under the banner of Urban Pops.

Sibaya’s iZulu theatre was filled with magnificent sights and sounds as the Crawford North Coast college and prep performers were joined on stage by the LIV Village choir, the KZN Youth Wind Band and the Quattro Femmes Quartet, making for a truly remarkable event.

The performance was taken to the next level when music star Majozi performed a set of five songs, three in collaboration with Crawford North Coast College pupils, Caity Cocker, Jordyn van Zyl, Amber Aucamp and Dylan Fouché.

Highlights of the evening’s performances included Lethu Zulu, Resego Seokane and the LIV Village and CNC choirs’ moving rendition of Johnny Clegg’s “Asimbonanga”, Robyn Gillespie and Jordan Steward’s heavenly version of Sarah Mclachlan’s “Angels” and Majozi’s “Fire”, performed by Majozi and Dylan Fouché.

Jason Jeffrey rocked the theatre, with a seamless performance of Muse’s “Supremacy” before the first half concluded with a Bealtes medley.

CNC rapper, Ofentse Mafoko and Mandy Mdlongwa had the audience gasping with their astonishing performance of Oskido’s re-mix of “Diamonds are forever”.

The evening rounded up with the full cast on stage, singing Michael Jackson’s “Heal the world”.

CRC thanked the enthusiastic and supportive audience and all the performers and their coaches for using their creative talents to celebrate their cultural heritages.
