Ending the second school term on a high note, pupils at Umhlali Preparatory handed over boxes overflowing with donations to NGO organisations on the Dolphin Coast as part of the school’s outreach programme.
Members of the school’s Early Act Club, Community Service for Kids went out of their way to stitch scarves and mittens to help keep vulnerable children warm during the cold winter season.
Umhlali Preparatory’s Veschini Maharaj said the school had donated items to Vision 153, the Nkobongo Resource Centre, Summerhill House and toward The North Coast Couriers Orphan Fund’s Soup Socks and Snuggles winter campaign.
“Vision 153 received over 60 blankets, the Nkobongo Resource Centre received 350 bars of soap as well as clothing items.
“Summerhill House also got in on the action and received about 400 bars of soap.
“The bulk of the items were donated to The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund where over 250 packets of soup and about 80 cans of were collected. The children also collected some gloves and slippers. ”
