Enkukwini Primary pupils wear their new uniforms with pride

Pupils from rural schools in KwaDukuza were given a token of dignity in the form of new school uniforms.

This Tuesday, KwaDukuza mayor Ricardo Mthembu, through his organisation The Njabulo Ricardo Charity Foundation donated uniforms to 56 disadvantaged pupils from Enkukwini Primary School in the Chris Hani area.

The public school is responsible for educating almost 2000 pupils, most of whom rely on social grants as their primary source of income.

Mthembu said that donations such as these were to inspire children to do better so that one day they could also be in a position to give back.

“It is always good to do good gestures for the young because it teaches them at an early age that one day they should be kind enough to do good for others as well.

“The uniforms which we are handing over today is the foundation’s emphasis that it is committed to education particularly in early childhood development phases.”

The mayor told the children that he had also come from a community like theirs.

“I want you to know that one day you can also be the mayor of this beautiful municipality, all it takes is for you to keep reminding yourself you can do whatever it is that you dream.”

Enkukwini Primary School principal Mr Khuzwayo thanked the foundation for its support.

“It is overwhelming to receive such help and no words can describe the joy we feel. We are particularly proud that we are led by people who share our perspectives on education and our commitment to ensuring the dignity of our children.”
