This week I journeyed to the King Shaka airport to see what new options they have to offer the over saturated Dolphin Coast market.
I had to meet my brother before he flew back to JHB so we grabbed a quick lunch at Cape Town Fish Market. I really like the look of this restaurant. It’s a franchise without being cheesy, and has a great classy feel.
The waiter was very friendly and did a good job of explaining the specials. The menu is varied with the standard seafood dishes you expect with a couple of new and intriguing offerings. I had my heart set on sushi but I did find the price a bit on the steep side (I’ve become too used to paying for supermarket sushi) but my craving was fulfilled with their seared tuna. I found this dish to be great value for money. The tuna was fantastic and nice and thick which allows you to get a good sear while still keeping the centre raw.
My brother had a prawn and calamari combo, which has to be one of the most common combos on the north coast. Saying that, it was better than expected.
The calamari was done in almost a bbq sauce, which was very nice.
All in all it was a really great lunch, the service and food were very good and the food was quick. I have heard a lot of people say they don’t want to go to the airport for lunch because they have to pay for parking etc, but the same is true of a trip to Gateway.
Personally I enjoyed the change of scenery.
