South Africa is no longer a land of peace, it is filled with sorrow.
The country is dominated by public outcry on a daily basis. Our hearts bleed without stopping. There are strikes almost everyday. Racism, inequality, crime and corruption is killing our country. Our economy is unstable and causes the price of goods and services to go up and down. Many people are being retrenched, many people are jobless.
I believe government must talk about better ways to create jobs. It is stated in the Freedom Charter that the wealth of the country shall belong to all its people. Unfortunately this is not happening. The wealth belongs to the politicians and people who are well connected and educated.
The poor and the working class are used as “cannon fodder” during elections. After they have voted the politicians back into power they are ignored until the next elections. Politicians must not try to mislead the people that they represent. Politicians earn high salaries and have many perks. They hand out nice jobs to their families, while the working class has to pay for everything. This must change.
But what are we currently doing to better our lives? We must stop voting for candidates without experience, who are corrupt and those who are enriching themselves at the expense of the poor. Therefore it is our responsibility to make a change and vote for the right person in the 2016 local government elections. The power is in our hands, so come on my fellow South Africans, let’s do the right thing and don’t regret later.
