DJ Records: The truth will set you free

When searching for the truth regarding the most important issues in life, I have discovered that the most reliable source of truth is to be found in God's Word, the Bible,

“You shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32.

Yet today, knowing the truth in our world is becoming more and more challenging. We are bombarded by the advertising world that is largely designed to get us to believe a lie, in order to make money out of us. Then there are the National World Leaders, many of whom have been known to be somewhat less than honest and have misled millions. In 2016, opinion polls produced data that, indirectly, resulted in causing the masses who believed their predictions, to be astonished that they got it so wrong.

Thus we are now urged to check what we are being told is actually the truth. My question is: “How and where can one go to verify anything we are being told?”

Winston Churchill said: “The truth is the most valuable thing in the world; it is so valuable that it is often guarded by a bodyguard of lies.”

Andrei Sakharov, the Russian nuclear physicist, the renowned designer of the Soviet Union’s Hydrogen Bomb, and subsequently a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1975, said: “I always had thought that the nuclear bomb was the most powerful thing in the world. Now I have changed my mind and have concluded that the most powerful thing in the world is the truth.”

Jesus claimed to be the embodiment of the truth: “I am the way, the truth and the life.” John 14:6. This truth has radically transformed the lives of millions of broken people for the eternal better. Believing a lie will always cause you to be imprisoned, but the truth will bring you freedom.

Jesus said of the Word of God: “Your word is truth” John 17:17; possibly a quote from Psalm 119:160 “The sum of your word is truth …”.

When searching for the truth regarding the most important issues in life, I have discovered that the most reliable source of truth is to be found in God’s Word, the Bible,

Jesus urges us to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, all your mind and with all your strength,” and “Love your neighbour as yourself.” Paul, describing genuine love, says: is found in “Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth.” 1 Corinthians 13:6.

I have found that when I embrace the truth with confidence, I am better empowered to love God and my neighbour.
