God has called us to be preservers and guardians over the future of the lives of our children. You are one of the most influential people on the Earth, as you carry the privilege to rewrite history amidst trying and challenging circumstances.
This pandemic has brought in a new perspective to life. However, amidst the uncertainties we can still determine the destiny of our children.
‘For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the Lord. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.’ Jeremiah 29 v 11
When Moses was born, he entered a world with a death sentence hovering over him, as Pharaoh had decreed that all male children be put to death. Moses’ mum defied the orders of Pharaoh to preserve the life that came from within her.
The Bible says that she hid this little miracle for three months. As parents, it’s time for us to take a stand to preserve the lives that God has entrusted to us. It’s time for us to keep our children hidden from the things that would defile or contaminate their spirits.
After the third month, Moses’ mum understood that she could not hide him any longer, so she wove a basket of papyrus, tar and pitch, placed the baby in the basket and lowered him into the river Nile.
We sometimes feel the agony of releasing our kids into a river of possible danger and death, but we still carry the hope that these children will prevail and emerge victorious.
We wonder if the three months of nursing is sufficient to give them the strength to withstand the temperatures of the outside world. As a teacher, the most heartsore experience is to say goodbye to a class of learners with whom you have bonded and moulded for the future.
As a mother, it is so heart-breaking to say goodbye to your child when he has to leave your home because he is now ready for the outside world.
We’ve seen the anguish of parents who have had to release their children to go to work because they were identified as essential workers during this pandemic.
It was the hope and prayers of a mum, amidst destruction and chaos, that caused Pharaoh’s daughter to rescue this little one and place him back into the arms of his mum, so he could be nursed.
Moses was given the opportunity to be trained in the courts of Pharaoh, and live a life of royalty and eventually rise to a place of becoming one of the finest leaders of his time.
To every one of you who carry this unique responsibility of moulding yours or someone else’s child… may you rise up as a fearless, courageous and outstanding person… an unstoppable preserver of a company of future history makers and world changers.
Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 23 v 18
