Letter: Covid-19 the cause for long queue at Ballito Clinic

"The number of staff on duty has been reduced as they are now working 2 shifts a day. Each patient has to be tested before entering the clinic which adds to the waiting time" - Pam Mills.

Pam Mills of the Ballito Clinic committee writes:

There have been several comments recently about the queue standing outside the clinic in Leonora Drive for long periods of time.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 there is a limit to how many people are allowed into the clinic at once.

Added to this, the number of staff on duty has been reduced as they are now working 2 shifts a day.

Each patient has to be tested before entering the clinic which adds to the waiting time.

The ideal solution to make the waiting more comfortable would be to erect a marquee in the grounds.

To this end, I would like to appeal to those community-minded people who have already shown an interest in the problem to either consider a fundraiser to rent a marquee which would accommodate up to 40 people, or alternatively to contact me if you can help with a solution.

I have requested quotations for the monthly cost of rental.

We have already had an extremely generous donation of gazebos to facilitate separate areas for conducting Covid tests, for which we are very grateful.

I can be contacted at millsp814@gmail.com.
