Letter: Thank you to Ashton

"As it turned out Ashton College volunteer parents and others, especially donor suppliers, were ultimately responsible for the distribution of 13 350 food-packs - a phenomenal achievement and gesture of care and commitment in these desperate times" - Cliff Hatt.

Cliff Hatt, chairperson of Darnall Zamani Orphans Outreach, writes:

This is a letter of thanks to Ashton College Ballito.

Over the past months, in response to the devastating effects of lockdown laws and consequent non-employment, students and parents of Ashton Families Who Care dedicated their time to sourcing funds to purchase essential nutritional basic foods as well as items for hygienic purposes for the destitute and marginalised in the surrounding communities.

Our small organisation was offered a quantity of the large 20kg food-packs for the 20 homes and 55 orphans we mind.

They were received with much joy and gratitude.

As it turned out Ashton College volunteer parents and others, especially donor suppliers, were ultimately responsible for the distribution of 13 350 food-packs – a phenomenal achievement and gesture of care and commitment in these desperate times.

They have now embarked on ‘God’s 7-month plan’ and are doing a further 1 000 food parcels for the remainder of the year.

We encourage all who may read this to support this further endeavour.

We applaud and thank them for their time, generosity and spirit of ubuntu in a country starved of much of this.
