On September 17 I joined the queue at the Salt Rock licensing offices.
All was well and I eventually entered the building, Covid-19 protocols having been observed in a friendly and efficient manner.
With two folks ahead of me, I suddenly and very unexpectedly did not feel 100%. I reached the cashier, handed over my documents and license fees and said that I felt I was going to faint, and promptly did so.
For a facility that has often received a lot of flak for various reasons, I would like to salute with the deepest gratitude the individuals around me who came to my assistance.
I opened my eyes to find the gentleman and lady next in the queue assisting me up whilst the gentlemen of the protocol staff were gathering up my possessions including my license renewal and change.
Cllr Privi Makhan was immediately on the spot and I was gently ushered into her office where a chair and a bottle of refrigerated water awaited me whilst she gave me her full attention.
Within what felt like seconds four paramedics were in the councillor’s office attending efficiently to my vital signs and asking the necessary questions.
I must commend the utmost care, courtesy and competence that I received at the hands of all these members of our community, it speaks volumes.
Within a short space of time I was fully capable of driving myself home with no after effects to speak of despite being in the dinosaur age range!
I concur unequivocally with Cllr Privy when, on leaving her office, she said we lived in a wonderful community where everyone had each other’s backs.
My sincerest thanks once again. God bless you all.
