Letter: Who runs licencing?

Therefore, is it safe to assume that KwaDukuza licencing office is now in the hands of their security guards?

George McGregor pf Ballito writes:

My wife and I applied to renew our driving licences in October last year.

An SMS message 2 weeks ago informed us that our licences were ready and to collect them within 21 days.

This morning full of anticipation, we drove to Stanger traffic department.

On arrival, an abrupt security guard asked what we were there for.

I explained the situation and he asked for IDs which I gave him (copies of our temporary licences).

He took them inside and told us to wait outside.

Forty minutes later he returned and informed us “They are not here”.

I requested to see someone employed by the licencing authority and was told “they are all busy”.

A wasted journey.

However, my question is, who’s running the show.

At no time did I talk to an official employee of the traffic department as “they are all busy”.

Therefore, is it safe to assume that KwaDukuza licencing office is now in the hands of their security guards?
