Thank you for publishing my letter (Litter in Stanger is bad, January 22) and also thank you for a nice response from Sipho Mkhize of KDM.
Yes, I agree that one deterrent would be to catch someone “in the act” and either take pictures and/or call the authorities.
The problem is after a person has already dumped in the middle of town or a side road or some other unacceptable place, what then?

Only thing left to do is that we as the citizens of this municipality have to get out and clean it up.
A little dumping leads to more dumping.
If a place is quite litter free people would be less likely to throw their trash willy-nilly all about.
I would personally volunteer my time and effort to help clean this mess up on the end of Linley Street that is seen from the R74.
Just name a time and date, when it is not too hot, and I will bring my boots and a shovel.
Should take just a few hours and a BIG truck!
