Letter: Unacceptable delays

I know you supposedly can apply online but not all of us are in a position to do so and who is "manning" that and how efficient is that?

Sylvia Coward of Brettenwood writes:

We visited the licencing department in Salt Rock to renew our car license this (Monday) morning at 10.50am and there were about 8 people already waiting there.

One gentleman said he had been waiting since 9am and still had not been attended to.

One after the other people were arriving and then just turning around and leaving.

Staff at the door said there was a delay because “the system is slow”.

What does that mean?

If you know what the problem is one should be able to fix it.

It could be any one of a number of reasons.

What is being done to remedy the situation?

Then, to add insult to injury, we were told they close at 1pm after only opening at 8.30am!

Come on guys, there must be a solution.

One arrives with all the correct payment, documents, etc. but then hits a dead-end! I know you supposedly can apply online but not all of us are in a position to do so and who is “manning” that and how efficient is that?

The independent online application system has proven to be efficient. Visit our website for details – Editor.
