Letter: Service is king!

"If we call to complain or report, we want to know that we are heard and that action will take place" - Tammy Colley.

Ward 6 councillor Tammy Colley writes:

Mahatma Gandhi said in 1890: “A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us.  We are dependent on him.”

Customer is king.

Our public institutions seem to have lost sight of this basic premise.

We do have the right to be heard.

If we call to complain or report, we want to know that we are heard and that action will take place.

Unfortunately for many, calling the control room is often met with a ‘we are experiencing high call volumes’ message.

The past fortnight saw parts of Ballito experiencing extended electrical outages.

What frustrates residents is when they cannot phone for updates and are left to rely on WhatsApp groups.

The electrical infrastructure in Ballito and its surrounding areas needs urgent attention.

A regular maintenance plan must be put in place by the Electrical Department to ensure that the needs of our community are met.

Many businesses are trying hard to recover from lockdown and to operate without interruption.

The Democratic Alliance delivers where we govern, and so we share the frustration and anger of residents.
