Letter: Caring for feral cats

"To date we have sterilised over 4 000 cats, preventing thousands of unwanted kittens being born" - Sharon Cossey.

Feline Feral Fund chairlady Sharon Cossey writes:

On behalf of FFF and the 350+ feral cats we feed per night, we’d like to thank the new owners, Eb and Natalie von Garicke of the beautiful new high-end KwikSpar Ballito Village for allowing us to put a food collection box on the right-hand side of the entrance into the shop.

We are the oldest registered feline NPO (Reg No 2012/175550/08) on the North Coast.

Our main programme is to stop the endless breeding by trapping-Sterilising-Releasing of community cats in the poorer areas, then feeding them to prevent them from starvation or sickness.

To date we have sterilised over 4 000 cats, preventing thousands of unwanted kittens being born.

To the public who shop in this upmarket store, please could you donate an item of food, be it a bag of dry cubes, tinned cat food or even a sachet.

Every little bit helps in these very challenging times.
