Letter: Plagued for 6 months of power outages

"Instead, the blackouts are random and can take anywhere from minutes to hours to be resolved" - Adrian Parkinson.

Sheffield resident Adrian Parkinson writes:

I am a resident of Sheffield Manor Estate and in the 6 months that I have lived here, we have been plagued with power outages.

I have no idea how long it’s been going on before then, but I assume it’s not a new occurrence.

The issue never seems to be anything as simple as loadshedding.

Instead, the blackouts are random and can take anywhere from minutes to hours to be resolved.

Sometimes, there are 2 or more blackouts in one day.

This is extremely inconvenient for everyone who works from home.

I have tried in the past calling the number on the front gate of the substation with no answer.

The same when I’ve tried calling the helplines listed online.

This quality of service is not acceptable, especially considering the high electricity bills we all pay.

What does the municipality intend to do about this issue?
