Ward 22 councillor Privi Makhan writes:
In the midst of very unsettling times, we come across many every day super heroes who go above and beyond to change the trajectory of the ordinary course of events.
The Sizani Combined School is a Quintile 2 school in Foxhill.
Apart from many social challenges that the learners experience, the Covid-19 pandemic has placed additional pressures on their families and educators.
One such challenge is the adequate provision of masks.
Through local business woman Samara Honeywell, Guardian Masks donated 8 500 masks to learners, which meant a pack of 10 masks per child.
In addition, Mountain Dew Consulting supplied 1 100 chocolate bars.
Rounding off the super sweet Easter treat was a generous donation of Easter eggs from locals.
The donation of masks has mitigated the challenge of kids at school without masks.
What an incredibly generous sponsorship. Thank you to both Guardian Masks and Mountain Dew Consulting, you reaffirm my faith in humanity.
It is indeed true that it does take a village to raise a child.
