Letter: A shocking state

"I am writing in the hopes that publicity will bring about action from Ethekwini municipality about the shocking state of the retirement village" - Tracy Borges

Westbrook Retirement Village resident Tracy Borges writes:

I am writing in the hopes that publicity will bring about action from Ethekwini municipality about the shocking state of the retirement village.

I have contacted the DA councillor for the area and he has tried his best but there seems to be a lack of interest from the municipality in sorting the maintenance out.

Ultimately these buildings belong to the ratepayers who will end up forking out much more if the maintenance is not done on a regular basis.

• There are more pot holes in the road than tar and one dangerous area has been rudimentarily cordoned off.

• The buildings are starting to crack and need repainting.

• There are roaches coming up from the drains.

• Gutters look a bit dodgy.
