As we enter child protection week (May 30 to June 6, let us ensure that our children’s safety is not only acknowledged at a specific timeframe but rooted into our minds.

Looking at these astounding figures, we parents need to be proactive.
Spending those few minutes interacting with our children brings a sense of belonging and interest shown.
Start at an early age to empower our children with information and skills that will be a benefit to them.
Basic road traffic information is a must for children.
Help children learn about traffic lights, road signs and what each colour means.
Stick to the pavement.
Do not walk on the road unless crossing it with an adult. Stop, look, and cross. No running allowed. Focus and be aware of their surroundings.
Take a step back if approached by a car.
Walk with a friend.
Help children learn their phone number and full address, including postal code.
Do not walk with headphones in both ears.
Teach them never to go anywhere with a stranger, even if it sounds like fun.
Shout “Stop, stranger!”
Monitor children internet usage. give permission to say “No” and tell if they are not comfortable with adult encounter. Help children recognise trusted adults. Set body limits.
Our future generation needs to be protected and empowered.
Educating and being supportive is a step forward in creating a mindset that brings out the best in our children.
Let us be thankful for these beautiful souls that have been entrusted to us by being a cornerstone of their future.
