Letter: Wonderful nursing staff

"The friendly lady noticed from my ID that my birthday was the previous day and with that a group of 4 nurses gathered round me and sang Happy Birthday. This blew me away" - Richard Brooks.

Richard Brooks of Salt Rock writes:

On Thursday, June 3, my wife Sonia and I set off from Ballito to the Stanger Hospital to get our Covid vaccine jabs.

Once we told them we were over 70 we were ushered straight in. We didn’t know what to expect but from the moment we arrived, we were met by the most friendly, caring, kind, courteous, capable and experienced staff.

First the registration room.

The friendly lady noticed from my ID that my birthday was the previous day and with that a group of 4 nurses gathered round me and sang Happy Birthday. This blew me away.

After visiting more work stations in this room by friendly, smiling staff we were escorted to the vaccination room.

Here again a friendly nurse explained in great detail what the after effects might be before giving the jab.

Then finally into the rest room where we sat for 15 minutes before being allowed to leave.

Once again, a friendly nurse checked on us every 5 minutes to see if we were OK.

The cherry on the top – we arrived at 8.15am and left at 9.15am.

A huge big thank-you to the staff and nurses at the vaccination centre at Stanger Hospital.

We are now so looking forward to returning on July 15 to meet up again with such wonderful people and get our second jab.
