Claudio Ferri of Zimbali Estate writes:
Two Bits quite correctly pointed out (September 17) that many ‘vaccine hesitant sceptics’ offer opinions based on ‘research’ they have carried out interacting with like-minded people on social media.
They then proffer their ‘expert opinion’ and conveniently disregard the years of research carried out by doctors and scientists.
Ms Mills (Courier, September 24) makes a rather facile comment like ‘facts are facts’ and if ‘you choose not to listen then that is your prerogative!’
I guess she would be guilty of the same offence.
She states that the vaccine is ‘gene therapy.’
This is strictly not correct and I doubt that she understands the meaning.
Gene therapy implies the manipulation of the genetic code (DNA) in the nucleus of the cell.
The mRNA-based vaccine never enters the nucleus of the cell but merely interacts with the cytoplasm which is external to the nucleus within a cell.
She states further that ‘many deaths and adverse effects have been reported worldwide.’ That is blatantly untrue.
According to the American Centre of Disease Control, of the more than 386 million doses of vaccines administered in the US from December 14, 2020, to September 20, 2021, there were 7 899 reports of death (0.0020%) among people who received a Covid-19 vaccine.
FDA requires any death reported after vaccination even if it’s unclear the vaccine was the cause.
The irony of her comment about the ‘captured media’ is not lost – having chosen to articulate her views on just such a platform.
The phenomenon of a ‘captured media’ has been used by disgruntled politicians to discredit and disparage the inconvenient truth.
The conspiracy theorists are out in full force on this one.
My advice – follow the science and the preponderance of evidence it supports.
