#Letter: Skiboaters to the rescue

"The Zamani Orphans Outreach committee would like to sincerely thank Zinkwazi Deep Sea Angling & Boating Club for their extremely caring and generous gift of 29 pairs of school shoes for those orphans who so desperately needed them." - Cliff Hatt.

Cliff Hatt of Zinkwazi writes:

The Zamani Orphans Outreach committee would like to sincerely thank Zinkwazi Deep Sea Angling & Boating Club for their extremely caring and generous gift of 29 pairs of school shoes for those orphans who so desperately needed them.

This is not the first time Zinkwazi Ski-boat Club have generously dipped into their pockets and it is extremely telling that they have again done so despite the difficulties being faced by all clubs in the country.

The excitement and gratitude of the children was palpable.

We thank Pastor Nelson Mkhize for his efficiency and discipline in all matters relating to the orphans whether it be food, clothing or Covid protection.

As a small committee looking after 22 Gogos and 66 children between the ages of 2 and 18 in the Zamani community alongside Darnall, we have been extremely blessed over the years to have had generous benefactors assisting us in providing regular monthly supplies of food to the 22 families we care for.

Grace Church in Umhlanga continue on a quarterly basis to provide vital bags of maize or soup packs and a few concerned residents contribute on a monthly basis.

Thankfully this assistance has not stopped despite the Covid pandemic or the sad period of insurrection that caused further problems for the vulnerable in our society.

Many blessings and thanks to all.
