Simon Scott of Ballito writes:
I accept the view expressed by Two Bits (September 17), but I have issue that you try to insinuate that your view is the correct one.
There is a marginalization of those who do not share this view and do not wish to have the vaccine.
George Dunn’s letter says it all (September 24): the vaccine is said to reduce hospitalizations and deaths, not transmission or contracting the virus, therefore anyone who does not wish to vaccinate takes the risk entirely upon themselves.
So how about our country and scientists accepting that and placing pressure on the rest of the world that anyone wanting to travel merely needs to provide a negative test 14, 10 and 3 days before departure, then again on arrival?
The vaccinated still have to prove that they are negative in any event so it’s absolutely pointless.
I agree with Pam Mills (September 24) that this is not a pandemic.
The figures show the vaccine is doing nothing (Source Worldometer and Ourworldindata).
On Sept 21, total new cases worldwide 472 679, African continent 12 014 (2.6% of total), which seems odd for a continent that has a vaccination rate of only 6.2% of 1 dose and 4% of 2 doses, compared to other continents being 39.6% fully vaccinated and 13.94 % partially.
So, the question is how are our numbers so low with such low vaccination rates compared to the rest of the world.
It is obvious. All matters are moot if the vaccine cannot prevent transmission nor contracting the virus then there is no need to mandate it.
END OF LETTER
Seriously? Of course I believe my view to be correct, as do you yours. That’s what having an opinion is about. – BS.
