#Letter: Christmas Fair a huge success

"This year we welcomed just more than 5 000 visitors over the 3-day period, with a record number of 148 stall holders and overall turnover exceeding our expectations with an incredible injection into small businesses." - Gaby Lyle.

Ballito resident and Christmas Fair Fund chairlady Gaby Lyle writes on behalf of the committee:

During the annual fundraiser for the Christmas Fair Fund we provided a platform for creatives to showcase their products and services, a beautiful environment for our community to gather in and be inspired, to support small business and to raise funds for projects and individuals supported by the Christmas Fair Fund.

This year we welcomed just more than 5 000 visitors over the 3-day period, with a record number of 148 stall holders and overall turnover exceeding our expectations with an incredible injection into small businesses.

To ensure we could successfully deliver Christmas Country Fair 2021, we further extended our support to local businesses and services.

This was achieved by paying for venue hire, infrastructure set-up, employing 30 temporary staff through the Work for a Living initiative, refuse removal, shuttle services, generators, entertainment, advertising, signage, electrical set-up, water supply, printing, hardware and stationary, as well as communications.

Over and above, The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund raised a considerable amount with their raffle, Beacon of Care (community service providing palliative care) and selling artwork.

We would like to thank our partners and community for their incredible support.

We are extremely excited to get started with our 2022 activities, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Christmas Fair Fund under the theme “When Women Gather”.

We look forward to sharing more with you in the new year. Wishing you all a happy, healthy and blessed festive season.
